Why do people suffer from depression? Important reason discovered

A new study has revealed the claim that depression is the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain.

This was revealed in a new medical study conducted in the UK.

The study, published in the journal Biological Psychiatry, found that a chemical serotonin imbalance is disturbed in the brain of a patient with depression.

Lack of sleep increases the risk of depression in young people, this study included 17 patients suffering from depression as well as 20 healthy people.

Brain scans of these people showed how much serotonin levels were and then a drug was given, which triggered the release of the chemical, after which the scans were done again.

The results showed that the amount of this chemical excreted in people with depression was lower than in healthy people.

Researchers said that this is the first direct evidence that the process of serotonin formation is affected in people with depression.

The results of the research strengthen the idea that this chemical plays a role in depression.

Serotonin is a chemical that plays a very important role for mood, sleep, digestion and other physical functions.

For many years, serotonin was considered to be the main cause of depression and for this reason sedatives were prescribed for patients so that the level of this chemical in the brain could increase.
