 Apple has been dealt a severe blow by the European Union. On Tuesday, European Union countries and legislators agreed that mobile charging ports for phones, tablets, and cameras will be the same. This is the first time in the world that an official order will be used to determine which charging port will be installed in a device. Apple will have to change the connector of any iPhone it sells in Europe starting in 2024 as a result of the European Union's decision. According to the European Commission, this will save customers money. iPhones are charged with Lightning cables, while Android devices are charged with USB-C connectors. According to a 2019 Commission study, USB Micro-B connectors were found in half of chargers sold with mobile phones in 2018, with USB-C connectors accounting for 29% and Lightning connectors accounting for 21%.
