Snapdragon 4 and 6 Gen 1 official

Qualcomm's unveiling of two new CPUs for mid-range smartphones completes the SoC family denoted by the new nomenclature, which began with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The final two components, the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, are subsequently released. The most perceptive individuals will recall that the first has been expected in recent days, but today we finally have access to all of the official information.

Snapdragon 4 and 6 Gen 1

SNAPDRAGON 6 GEN 1

So let's start with the more powerful of the two ideas, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. A SoC manufactured at 4 nm can deliver up to 40% more CPU performance than the previous generation, while a +35% increase in graphics performance is recorded, again compared to the SoC of the same previous range, allowing for HDR gaming experiences with frame rates exceeding 60 fps and support for Variable Rate Shading.

Due to the implementation of a triple 12-bit ISP that supports sensors up to 108 MegaPixels and enables shooting at up to 48 MP with minimal shutter lag, there are also new photography opportunities. Additionally, it is possible to capture 4K HDR video at up to 30 frames per second, a feature traditionally reserved for more expensive SoCs.

In terms of connection, the 6 series offers complete support for the Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 platform and the modem Snapdragon X62 5G, which is capable of delivering full 5G (including millimetre waves) and Wi-Fi 6E for the first time. This also represents a significant leap in the realm of artificial intelligence, where the seventh generation Qualcomm AI Engine enables a threefold improvement in performance compared to previous generations. Additionally, Quick Charge 4+ is offered. The prerequisites are described in detail below.

  • Production process : 4 nm

  • Part number : SM6450

  • CPU: Kryo up to 2.2 GHz, 64-bit architecture

  • GPU: Adreno, HDR gaming, Vulkan 1.1 API

  • Display : FHD + at 120Hz

  • Modem: Snapdragon X62 5G, 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz, SA and NSA, downloads up to 2.9 Gbps

  • WiFi: 6E, 802.11ax / 802.11ac / 802.11 a / b / g / n standard, Qualcomm FastConnect 6700

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2 and USB 3.1

  • Camera: Up to 108MP, Triple 12-bit ISP, 4K HDR video at 30fps, Slow-mo at 720p and 240fps

  • Audio: Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec

  • Charging: Quick Charge 4+

  • Memory: LPDDR5 support up to 12GB at 2750MHz

With the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor, the 6 nm fabrication technique enters the commercial market for the first time. Given a 15% increase in CPU speed and a 10% increase in graphics performance compared to the previous generation, the improvements are less pronounced than those provided by Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. (also present with VRS support).

The new triple ISP, which includes Multi-Frame noise reduction techniques and supports sensors with up to 108 MegaPixels, is also available here. In addition, the Snapdragon X51 5G modem and the FastConnect 6200 platform, which allows download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, enabling the execution of all the systems necessary for the operation of the always-on voice assistants with minimal battery consumption (millimeter waves are missing). Lastly, we would like to call your attention to the fact that the Quick Charge 4+ charging technique is supported in this circumstance. Here are the specifics: APDRAGON 4 GEN 1

Production process : 6 nm Part number : SM4375 CPU: Kryo up to 2 GHz, 64-bit architecture GPU: Adreno, Vulkan 1.1 API Display : FHD + at 120Hz Modem: Snapdragon X51 5G, 5G sub-6 GHz, SA and NSA, downloads up to 2.5 Gbps WiFi: 802.11ac / 802.11 a / b / g / n standard, Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2 and USB 3.1 Camera: Up to 108MP, Triple 12-bit ISP, 1080p video at 60fps, Slow-mo at 720p and 120fps Audio: Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec Charging: Quick Charge 4+ MemQualcomm has announced that smartphones employing this technology will be available as early as the third quarter of 2022, making the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 the first chip to arrive on a commercial device. The first instance of this is supplied by iQOO, which has forecasted that its upcoming iQOO Z6 Lite gadget will be powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 platform. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will not, however, be available until the first quarter of 2023. Motorola has already announced that it intends to employ the platform in the future, however it is still unknown on which models.ory: LPDDR4X support up to 2133MHz, eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.2
